The wine

Old Grenache vines planted at high altitude in stony soils. A wine which evokes thoughts of Châteauneuf-du-Pape thanks to its varietal expressiveness and medium body. Briefly aged in pre-used barrels to ensure the fruit leads the way, the resulting wine is a fresh, juicy and elegant red wine with clayish tannins and very pleasant to drink. A wine to enjoy easily without complications.

What does this wine taste like?

Larrosa is an ethereal and delicate red wine with aromas of violets, lavender and ripe wild fruits. Discrete smoky tones and a hint of rose pepper and cocoa remind us of its short but well-spent time in barrels.

A fruity and amicable wine with a velvety and long mouthfeel which finalizes with a hint of pencil lead. Fine and enveloping tannins provide a juicy and discretely dry sensation after each sip of the wine, just tantalizing enough to leave us wanting more.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker and Jancis Robinson

The red varietal Garnacha 2020 Larrosa Negra comes from 11 hectares of vines planted in 1975 in Tudelilla that are being transitioned to organic farming. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in second and third use French oak barrels for six months. It's perfumed and ripe at 14.65% alcohol and has a varietal and Mediterranean nose of flowers and aromatic herbs and a juicy, round palate with fine tannins and a dry mouthfeel. 49,784 bottles produced, as volumes are growing. It was bottled in September 2021.

Ripe strawberries, red and black plums, and a light impact of the high-quality oak, with toast and smoke. The palate offers so much pleasure, with well-defined fine-grained tannins, and with the oak adding depth. I love the mineral pencil-lead finish. This is a classic wine but with a free spirit that surprised me.

Bodegas Izadi

Bodegas Izadi

In 1987, Gonzalo Antón, in conjunction with a group of friends and business associates from Vitoria, decided to set up an innovative project in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa. Thus Bodegas Izadi came into being, situated in the triangle formed by the towns of Villabuena, Samaniego and Ábalos, the triangular motif on its labels, and with the clear objective of giving maximum expression to the fruit of that particular location, that natural environment so well-loved (Izadi means...
