Ossian started up in 2005 with some really exceptional vineyards: 40 ha of extremely old vineyards, located in the Nieva municipality, the highest in the whole denomination, at an altitude of between 840 and 930 metres. The grapevines are pre-phylloxera and ungrafted, with ages ranging between 100 and 200 years old, that were able to survive the phylloxera plague thanks to this area’s characteristically sandy soil, which prevented the disease from spreading; these are ungrafted root stock that bring forth very small clusters, with tiny berries and of an excellent standard. The estate boasts slate parcels and ancient river terraces which give rise to Ossian Capitel. Raw material of the highest quality and organic cultivation, certified since 2001, provide a firm foundation for this project, which offers us today some very fine whites for cellaring.
