Ribolla Nera, called in Friuli Schioppettino, is one of the most typical and elegant indigenous-Friulian vines: purplish red in color and a scent reminiscent of wild blackberry, raspberry and blueberry. With aging it evolves into an elegant bouquet of undergrowth, musk, aromatic wood.

Gorgeous
I discovered schioppettino recently and I have tried —and I will continue to try— as many as I have been able to get hold of. But in truth, at least until now, Bressan's is by far the most impressive. In fact, I think it is a unique wine. The nose is extraordinary; a mixture of ripe (never over-ripe) raspberry and dry strawberry fruit and spices such as pepper, clove, cinnamon and camphor. The palate is medium weight with gorgeous acidity, a velvety texture and a very long and expressive aftertaste. Ligt in its feet too. An moreish. In two years it will be even better. Masterful.

Very beautiful...
...but still on the younger side. Less peppery and complex than the 2011, with more obvious, sweetish fruit, but still delicious, delicate and expressive. Perhaps more layers will come with a few years ageing.

Bressan una istituzione
Bressan continua a stupire annata dopo annata con uno schioppettino riconoscibile al naso anche da lontano. Una istituzione ormai consolidata, miglior schioppettino al mondo
