Details for San Marzano Primitivo Sessantanni 2016
Bottle size and vintage
Coming under the Primitivo di Manduria D.O, the Sessantani is made from the grapes of vines almost 100 years old, the oldest of the Feudi di San Marzano.
A deep ruby-red colour, on the nose it releases primary aromas of fruit, ripe plums and blackberries, cherry jam; afterwards, spicy and fragrant notes of liquorice, sandalwood, cardamom, pepper, tobacco, incense and cocoa, It is rich, intense and explosive on the palate, but exquisitely balanced and elegant. A powerful wine with considerable body, but also smooth and caressing.
It enhances meat dishes such as lamb chops, veal stew, and roast leg of pork.
- Optimum serving temperature:Between 16ºC and 18ºC
Un vino superbo ... ad un prezzo strepitoso... va bene sull’ carne e con dei primi corposi ...by: Derek Carver (24/06/2019) - Vintage 2015
One of life's extremely pleasant surprises.
In our house we regularly drink Primitivo. It goes so well with dishes containing tomato. We do not pay the price of this wine but decided to try it. What an excellent decision. Not that I would choose this truly outstanding wine to accompany tomato dishes. Red meat or game come to mind (we first tried it with wild boar pâté). But it is now a house favourite 'special' wine.by: firstname.lastname@example.org (19/06/2019) - Vintage 2015
I ordered this wine at an Italian Restaurant in Mallorca and loved it. I could only find the exact wines through a Google search from Italvinus in Italy, so I ordered six bottles online. I shall be buying more!by: camilla (24/05/2019) - Vintage 2015

A really good example of the type
First tried this in a restaurant in Puglia just a few miles form the winery! It tasted wonderful there and has, thankfully, transported well to the UK climate! Loads of fruit as you'd expect; good to drink now but I suspect will improve further with a little more patience!
