Only the finest wines of the Azpilicueta brand bear the name of Félix Azpilicueta. A pioneer as well as wine grower and businessman, Don Félix Azpilicueta began in 1881 with a small winery in which he embodied all the knowledge acquired in Bordeaux. Today, considered one of the most important people in the history of Rioja wine, his name is an absolute guarantee of quality and elegance.

Long before bringing a glass of Colección Privada red to the nose, one realises that this is a fine wine; the aromas come out to meet us on simply uncorking the bottle. It smells of cherries and plums, scrubland, toasted oak and vanilla. Its medium density and abundant yet agile tears lead us to preconceive an intense as well as elegant wine. With precise acidity, its entry on the palate is very fresh, the tannins are extremely fine and the oak is perfectly integrated; some hints of coffee in the background bring to mind the toasting of staves, but it's the wine as a whole that captivates us. Slowly drifting away, the Félix Azpilicueta Colección Privada leaves behind a trail of Riojan distinction.

Very tasty

This wine is still young, it would benefit from 3 to 4 years more of aging. Having said that, very tasty, red fruit, good tannins (this is the part that should improv). All in all, a good value for money.
