A sophisticated white Rioja.
I ordered this wine on the basis that it had received very good reviews in the press and it did not disappoint. I usually drink Burgundy white wines so it was a bit of a risk to order a whole case. I'm pleased I did as this wine, although very different from my usual Burgundy's, is of a very high quality. The use of oak is more pronounced than is the recent trend with Burgundy whites but it is integrated here with finesse by the winemaker to produce a wine that has real character.
Baron de Ley 3 Vinas Blanco Reserva 2018
A fine white rioja from the three classic rioja grape types. It is straw coloured with flaviours of apricots and tropical fruits but with lots of depth exploding in the palate with complexity and long lasting tastes. Most enjoyable but with a twenty year plus drinking window it is young and will likely develop a lot further. Impressive and patience will be rewarded
I challenge you to find a wine this good at this price. The four years of age really show, and what I most liked about this wine was the finish and length. A good two minutes in the mouth. And unlike other wines at the price, it has no flaws or downsides.
Crisp delicious white to complement a special meal
Crisp delicious white to complement a special meal, a particularly good Rioja, lovely oakey taste and very reasonably priced in comparison with other stores in the UK
Functional and really good!
Lots of roasted oak, med-full body wine. A bit salty. I like this wine a lot and find it very functional with food pairing. To fried duck or pork with hazelnut.

One of the few Spanish wineries listed on the stock exchange, it is now a business group bringing together names such as El...
