The wine

Bodegas Vizcarra found themselves a place among top-quality Riberas with their young red wines. Their secret is the excellent ripeness of the grapes and the rigorous care that this family-run winery, with Juan Carlos Vizcarra Ramos in charge, applies to each process throughout manufacture. This wine in particular, the Senda del Oro (Golden Path), gets its name from one of the parcels on the estate, where the vineyards are on average 15 years old.

Aged for 6 months in new American and French oak barrels.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker

The young and fruit-driven 2021 Senda Del Oro has very integrated oak and is redolent of berries, herbs, spices and licorice, displaying a juicy and fruit-driven medium-bodied palate with round tannins and a velvety mouthfeel. Very good for what it is. It's not shy at 14.6% alcohol. 100,000 to 120,000 bottles produced. It was bottled after no less than six months in barrels of different sizes.

Juan Carlos Vizcarra Ramos is the owner and winemaker of this winery, run by a family with strong wine-growing roots, whose vineyards are spread out over various individual plots of land lying within the Burgos municipalities of Mambrilla de Castrejón and Roa de Duero (namely, La Ambuena, El Oro, Las Arras, Tras de San Pedro, Senda del Oro and the oldest ones: Los Barriles and Carrascal). The grapes, of the Tinta del País variety, undoubtedly enjoy excellent growing conditions...
