Bodegas Vizcarra found themselves a place among top-quality Riberas with their young red wines. Their secret is the excellent ripeness of the grapes and the rigorous care that this family-run winery, with Juan Carlos Vizcarra Ramos in charge, applies to each process throughout manufacture. This wine in particular, the Senda del Oro (Golden Path), gets its name from one of the parcels on the estate, where the vineyards are on average 15 years old.
Aged for 6 months in new American and French oak barrels.

A smooth but tasty Tempranillo and a bargain at this price !
We very much enjoy Tempranillo wines and this one is an excellent example. - Certainly worth a try. - We will be back for more !
Vino correcto, que no promete más de lo que da. Aunque no sobresale, es una buena opción para ocasiones de diario.
The Senda del Oro runs to your taste buds Smooth velvety!
Last lot not so good
We have bought probably at least 60 bottles of 2018 and all bottles have been very consistently good value for money. The reason for this lower score is that about 10 bottles from last 1 or 2 orders have not been all that good, no cork nor off taste, just really lower quality compared to all the previous ones. We didn’t have this with the 2017 which we also purchased on regular base. When remaining bottles are all good I will put a new review, this will take a few months.
Juan Carlos Vizcarra Ramos is the owner and winemaker of this winery, run by a family with strong wine-growing roots, whose vineyards are spread out over various individual plots of land lying within the Burgos municipalities of Mambrilla de Castrejón and Roa de Duero (namely, La Ambuena, El Oro, Las Arras, Tras de San Pedro, Senda del Oro and the oldest ones: Los Barriles and Carrascal). The grapes, of the Tinta del País variety, undoubtedly enjoy excellent growing conditions...
