There comes a moment when it is no longer about starting well.
It is about finishing.
Ultradistància 2021 is understood from that idea. From a way of working where what matters is not the immediate, but everything that comes after. And that connects directly with the way Pau Capell, Ultra Trail World Champion, has built his career: patience, endurance and the ability to sustain effort when it is no longer comfortable.
Here the base changes.
Grapes from Montsant, hand-harvested on the chosen day, after repeated ripeness checks, walking every corner of the vineyard and waiting patiently for the vine to ripen slowly.
Then it spends 12 months in French and American oak barrels, gaining toasted notes, spices and complexity from both woods, together with the subtle oxygen exchange through the pores of the barrels.
On the nose, toasted wood appears first, with vanilla and a touch of coconut, along with ripe fruit such as dried apricot and raisin.
On the palate, it fills the mouth: warm, velvety and smooth but at the same time structured, thanks to the tannins extracted during vinification, leaving a very long and distinctive finish.
It is not an easy wine.
But when you enter, it takes you further.
