Details for Zaccagnini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Tralcetto 2018
Bottle size and vintage
A small town in Abruzzo, guardian of great treasures and traditions, the company Zaccagnini was founded in 1978. From a family-run business, the winery has grown rapidly and constantly with the aim of "total quality, from bunch to glass", becoming today an international reality with over 300 hectares of splendid vineyards, cared for and controlled at every stage of production. Excellence, passion and dedication to work have made wines from Tralcetto a pride of Abruzzo wine production appreciated throughout the world.
Perhaps the symbolic and shrewd packaging will turn up some noses, but Tralcetto is and remains one of the symbols of Italian wine. Moreover, even the most suspicious will have to agree that this wine is not only a presentation, but also a substance. First of all, the idea of rolling a small vine around the neck of the bottle is not a superficial operation. On the contrary, it bears witness to the continuing link between this great company and its land, between its entrepreneurial future and the solid approach to working in the vineyard.
If the bottle is the cover that intends to announce a story by attracting the lost reader to the shelves, wine is, in this case, a very exciting story. Indeed Tralcetto tells, without pretense and false flourishes, the frank essence of Montepulciano, with its merits and its limits. A story that has its roots in the Abruzzi transhumance and in the trabocchi work, and that combines, in a single and lively civilization of proud farmers and fishermen, the healthy good taste of Abruzzo. Grapes always youthful and a little angular? Perhaps these are the limits of Montepulciano that Tralcetto tells with passion. But try them with a real roast or with a nice pecorino: those limits will change face and go to swell the ranks of the qualities of this wine.
Tralcetto is a wine of true character, able to perfectly express the exuberance of the Abruzzo territory. At sight it has an intense ruby red color with violet reflections; the sense of smell reveals an intense and characteristic aroma with all the primary aromas of the vine: notes of small red fruit jam, bitter almond, spices, combined with ethereal sensations. The flavor is full and well structured, tannic and warm, soft and of great taste-olfactory persistence. Strong body, sometimes a bit rough and lively, but well balanced by the skilful tannic qualities and refined wood. It is excellent to accompany elaborate meat recipes, first courses with meat sauce and medium-aged cheeses. A perfect wine to drink immediately, but it can evolve well if it is required to rest in the cellar for a few years.

Smooth and mellow
This is a nice gentle, dryish wine. Smooth with a hint of berries. Goes with most meat dishes or by itself.
One says 3,000,000 bottles and one thinks of the wine industry. Marcello Zaccagnini's is instead eclectic and dynamic, very sensitive to the needs of the market, of course, but deeply rooted in love for the territory like few others. As one of the best represented Italian wineries in the world, Zaccagnini displays a virtuous union between entrepreneurial vision and vineyard and cellar expertise. In the countryside of Casauria, the Zaccagnini's have their roots, and here they ...
