Excellent value and consistently good wine for everyday drinking.

Semele represents excellent value for a typical every day wine from the Ribera Del Duero denomination. We have found it to be of consistent quality and it goes well with both plain and lightly spiced meat and chicken dishes.

Fine mineral notes

Semele 2017 is cherry red. It has black fruit, plum and fine mineral notes. In the mouth it is round, silky, with sweet and well polished tannins. It is a wine that meets the expectations. It is intense, complex, with good red fruit aromas and aging and good to share.

A reliable favourite

This blend of Tempranillo and Merlot grapes made by Bodegas Montebaco in the Ribera del Duero is one of my favourite Spanish reds. Elegant and flavoursome, without being excessively sweet or cloying, it delivers an excellent finish at a really exceptional price.

Excellent wine for the price

I gave this wine a try a couple of years back and have come back for more. Now I see that the 2014 vintage has scored well in the Penin guide. A wine that is really well worth a try.

Great wine for the price

A bit acidic, but that's ok as it is a young wine at a great price. Drinks very easily and will improve over the next couple of years but I don't think my stock will last that long.
