Wine Pago de Valdoneje Mencía 2019
Marcos García, in charge of vines and winemaking at Vinos Valtuille, still follows the advice his grandfather Antonio gave him for creating great wines. His young single-varietal Pago de Valdoneje Mencía is no exception and, as with his other wines, Marcos has achieved a wonderfully expressive nose and a rounded and flavoursome mouth. A wine that gains more and more praise and fans year after year – and now with 92 points from the prestigious Parker ratings.
In the glass, Pago de Valdoneje Mencía displays a magnificent and intense red colour with purple glints. Fresh in the nose, it delights with aromas of wild fruit such as blackberries and raspberries as well as the usual smoky notes from the soils of Bierzo. After standing for a moment in the glass, refreshing herbal aromas appear, reminiscent of mint and liquorice. Juicy and well-structured in the mouth, it shows incredible depth for such a young wine and tantalizing fruit is always present. Despite its youth, it has very fine tannins which ensure the sweet primary flavours do not take over the wine. To sum up, it is a complete, fresh and enveloping Mencia with an impressive varietal character. A wine sure to delight at an unbeatable price.

Excellent value for money
As an amateur but regular wine drinker I tend to think of wines as either for drinking on their own or for drinking with food. This wine is excellent for drinking on its own and is refined and smooth for easy quaffing. It is really very good indeed for the price.by: Russell (30/05/2019) - Vintage 2017
Punches way above its weight!
This wine is a superb surprise and is worth a try! You will be astounded at the roundness and berry flavours! Ideal for food, probably meats and also drinking alone without any food! Go try this!by: Keith (13/12/2016) - Vintage 2015
Fruitful young light wine
Acceptable quality young light wine made with interesting mencla grape. Fruit flavours predominate. Good value for money. It's not a wine that I'd definitely buy again.by: DAVID BOWEN (24/09/2019) - Vintage 2017

Value for money
Value for money! Very good wine. Nice and round taste that goes with both meat and cheese. Good choice for a relatively low price
Wine from Vinos Valtuille
Vinos Valtuille is a small, familiar-run winery, with Marcos García Alba one of the new-wave wine-produers and bodega owners in Bierzo, that took on the challenge of creating quality wines at the beginning of 2000, making an important investment in installations, facilities and plenty of technical resources. Marcos launched onto the market under the brand name of Pago de Valdoneje, giving rise to a young, single varietal Mencía wine that has been growing in reputation out th...
