Details for Finca Viladellops Negre 2017
Review
The red Grenache grape is the variety which expresses best the character of the Finca Viladellops estate, and the Finca Viladellops Negre is one of the reference wines of this cellar in the Garraf region.
After the fruit is carefully harvested from the vines, the grapes are taken in 15 kg crates to the selecting table in the cellar and then undergo a cold maceration to ensure the wine will have delicate aromas. Following a controlled-temperature fermentation, the wine ages in French oak barrels for twelve months, and then stands in tanks for a period, before being filtered and bottled.
This wine has a full deep-red colour with mineral, floral, cherry, and black plum aromas, embellished with a fine hint of spices. Flavoursome and full-bodied on the palate, but not aggressive at all. Its good acidity makes this wine a fresh one, while the careful maceration gives it a medium level of tannicity. The Finca Viladellops Negre aims to excite through its delicateness, rather than its strength. Notes of liquorice and toast can be appreciated through retronasal olfaction, while the wine lingers on the palate, offering silkiness and a pleasant volume. Notes of stone dust and pollen also appear after aeration.

Finca Viladellops

Located at an altitude of 200-250 metres above sea level, in the rugged terrain of the Garraf Massif, Finca Viladellops produces wines with a discernible character of the terroir. The soils, which are poor, determine the lack of vigour in the plants, the low yields and small berries, and provide the wines with minerality, as well as iodine and saline notes to the whites, and chalky notes to the reds. The large amount of sediments and marine fossils found in this land are clea...
