The wine

El Molar is an atypical wine, an original Grenache, fresh and lighter than its origin could lead us to assume. Perhaps it will be the north orientation of its vineyards, or the use of fudres in its upbringing, or perhaps a combination of these and other factors such as the limestone soil in which its grapes grow ... The truth is that El Molar de Casa Castillo is a wine that makes every sip fall in love. Aromatic, balsamic, brimming with fresh red fruit, creamy and fluid at the same time.

What does this wine taste like?

In the bottle it looks cherry red and boasts aromas of wild fruit, spices and eucalyptus on a discreet wooden background. The palate exhibits a great balance between the usual maturity in these latitudes and the freshness of the altitude. Fluid and with friendly tannins, like a good Grenache, El Molar is also a wine with its own personality that, without giving up the style of the winery and the Murcian region, is capable of filling the glass with light, complexity and freshness. Its fragrance is so seductive that we are forced to warn you: it is not easy to take your nose away from the glass.

Winemaking

Garnacha, the 12 months in fudres and the almost eight hundred meters above sea level of the Sierra del Molar make the homonymous wine a true rarity in the region. The poverty of the soils, the strong thermal contrasts between seasons and the low pluviometry are responsible for transmitting the typicality to each grape grain. Once harvested, the fruit is transferred to the winery and only 70% skid. Without prior crushing, the grape is taken to small underground wineries where it ferments for about two weeks. Subsequently, it will carry out malolactic fermentation and aging in oak barrels and oak vats.
