Bodegas Cepa 21 is a new project in the Ribera del Duero, headed up by the Moro family, owner of Bodegas Emilio Moro. 50 hectares of the purest tempranillo clone enclose an attractive, futuristic-style winery which produces very expressive and modern-style wines, such as the impressive Cepa 21, a wine aimed at the well-informed consumer who's looking for new experiences with regard to wine.
After being destalked, the grapes undergo cold maceration in order to bring out the most delicate aromas, and ferment in stainless steel tanks. After 12 months in mostly French oak barrels, the wine appears a bright cherry colour with purple hues on the rim and exhibits a fresh, complex nose. Lactic aromas mingle with sweet spices, smoke, cocoa and very appealing ripe fruit. On the palate it's succulent and intense, with very fine tannins as well as balsamic and aniseed hints. A luscious finish with subtle oaky nuances.

Entre tradicional y moderno
Es un buen vino y se nota la sabiduría vinícola del equipo que está detrás (grupo Emilio Moro); sin embargo, está todavía a medio camino de la innovación. Todavía es muy Ribera del Duero, reconocible en el uso del roble nuevo, pero bien integrado horas más tarde de abrir la botella. Es un vino que está mejor al día siguiente.
