The wine

Valtravieso Nogara 8 Meses is a wine that takes its time, that reveals more with every sip, and proves that Verdejo can be much more than an easy-drinking wine.

This wine is born in Puras, south of Valladolid, in one of the highest areas of the D.O. Rueda, at around 850 meters above sea level. There, the blend of Castilian light, continental climate, and poor soils — sandy, gravelly, and full of pebbles — produces grapes with a strong personality.

But Nogara wouldn’t be Nogara without the origin of its vines.

To craft it, Valtravieso combines century-old bush vines with younger vineyards, around two decades old, trained on trellises. The old vines bring concentration, depth, and tension; the younger ones add freshness and vibrancy. This blend — this small natural choreography — is the secret behind the wine’s balance.

Then comes the final touch: eight months on its lees, partly in barrel and foudre, partly in stainless steel. This slow aging gives it volume, creaminess, and depth, without losing the freshness that makes Verdejo great.

Valtravieso started up in 1985 on an estate called La Revilla, located in the Valladolid town of Pinel de Arriba, right in the heart of the Ribera del Duero. It was here that the first experimental grapevines were planted and the first vintage to be put on the market was the 1994, which was their Crianza. However, it wasn't until the González Beteré family acquired the property in 2002 that Valtravieso's wines really got underway. The Valtravieso philosophy is based on the...
