What does this wine taste like?
Dido delights with aromas of ripe wild fruit combined with herbal and sweet spicy tones. Mountain herbs blend in the nose with a tantalizing hint of mandarin orange peel which now forms part of its aromatic history. In the mouth, Dido has plentiful well-integrated and fluid tannins. Freshness is at the heart of the wine while earthy sensations display its soul.
An expressive and precise wine, with perfectly-integrated oak and a splendid blend of varieties. It is flavoursome, rounded and silky; fresh and moreish from start to finish. To sum up, Dido embodies purity and flowers, juiciness and balance.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker
I am a fan of big powerful priorats from the neighbouring region. This montsant was milder by priorat standards but plenty of flavour. A perfect balance of tannin and acidity; flavours of cheery, oak and vanilla. Can be drank on its own. And the more I drank, the more I wanted. An immediate favourite.
Surprisingly light for the grapes composition
To tell the truth I have expected full bodied, quite heavy wine, but I found it surprisingly light. Now I have realized why it is recommended for rice dishes and oily fishes.
Excellent red wine
Excelent wine to drink with cheese, red meat and fish and also to drink alone.
Paying the utmost respect to the magic of the terroir, in the winery they use a proportion of whole grapes and local yeasts and a short maceration period of just a few days. To maintain this profile, the ageing process is divided among large wooden vats and concrete tanks, an excellent material to highlight the primary character of a great wine like this.
|Vinification material||Concrete / Earthenware|
|Ageing period||16 months|
|Type of wood||Oak|
Sandy granite soils warm up in the day and cool at night which means grapes ripen more slowly and obtain stronger aromas and textures. Perhaps this special landscape and climate is the reason behind the unique and seductive mandarin orange aromas we have mentioned above. The tension and purity of these special soils are maintained by partly ageing the wine in concrete tanks to provide the balance to the warm climate of the region.
Venus "La Universal"
La Universal is the small 4-hectare estate located in the Falset district where two weighty names in the wine world have come together: René Barbier (he is the 4th generation, with more than 20 years of experience in the family-run winery of Clos Mogador) and his wife, the assiduous oenologist Sara Pérez, daughter of Josep Lluís Pérez (Mas Martinet Viticultors). Under the Montsant D.O, the couple have put...
