Review

San Roman figures among the great wines of Toro. What else could we expect from a great winemaker like Mariano García! It proves and confirms that today's Toro wines bear no similarity to those strong, rough, harsh wines of times past. This is elegant, fragrant and sophisticated. A classy wine, one of those we so often describe as feminine.

Its cherry colour with a purple rim, fairly dense, will tinge the glass and begin to captivate us with its aromas, slowly unfurling, just like a peacock unfurling its majestic plumage under the gaze of admiring onlookers. Aromas of raspberries, wild strawberries, always lush ripe fruit, violet petals, hints of liquorice, a very pleasant menthol touch and wafts of dry earth... It is a wine with a marked mineral character.

On the palate it is extremely fruit-forward, with dark fruit, and it has impressive structure, with sweet and very ripe tannins. Its passage through the mouth is silky, with a more notable presence of ageing notes on the palate than the nose, always very well-integrated. It is long, exceedingly long, with great balance. Once again: this is a classy wine, powerful and with a long life ahead of it.

Decant it at least half an hour beforehand, then relax and enjoy it. If possible, put a couple of bottles by to have in a few years’ time, and your patience will be amply rewarded.

Suavidad y profundidad en la tinta de Toro

Vino largo y suave, que deja ver claramente la uva, pero se aleja de los tópicos de Toro. Envolvente y tánico, sin ninguna aspereza

Very nice wine from Toro!

Even if it’s young it’s very good and for the price it’s one of my favourites.

Top Toro wine

Wonderful nose with dark berries, sweet cherry, plum, tobacco, leather , fine oak, flowers, vanilla , spices. Beautifull can't stop smelling it, full bodied on the palate, with delicious dark ripe fruits , great balance with a lifely acidity, fine mature tannins, verry juicy, long aftertaste ......this bottle show realy great tonight!! 94 DSP

Vinazo

Sin duda es uno de los mejores vino de la DO Toro en su gama de precio. Es indispensable probarlo.

Maurodos

Maurodos

Maurodos is, to put it another way, Bodegas Mauro in the Toro denomination. Mariano García (Bodegas Mauro, Aalto) started this project in 1995, with vineyards of mainly Tinta de Toro grapes (90%) but also Garnacha, in Pedrosa del Rey, Villaester and San Román de Hornija. NOTE: The vineyards with which Bodegas y Viñedos Maurodos work, both their own and those of collaborating winegrowers, have organic certification . However, even though all the wine comes from organic grap...
