The wine
Galena is the second wine from Domini de la Cartoixa, the winery that Miguel Pérez Cerrada, a university lecturer turned winegrower, built in El Molar, at the heart of Priorat, alongside winemaker Toni Coca. And, as befits a good "second wine", it was born with an honest calling: less ambitious on paper than Clos Galena, but made with the same care and the same respect for the vineyard.
A blend of Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cariñena, organically grown on the region's characteristic slate soils. An accessible entry-level Priorat that still holds true to the appellation's identity.
What does this wine taste like?
A deeply coloured red with Mediterranean character: powerful, flavoursome and intense, with the ripe tannins and that toasty edge so typical of well-made Priorats. A direct, no-frills wine, with a long finish that invites the next sip.
- Appearance: dark cherry red, intense, with garnet hues
- Nose: fruity aromas, red fruit and ripe black fruit, balsamic, toasted and spiced notes
- Palate: powerful, flavoursome, intense, with toasted notes, ripe tannins and a long finish

Drinking and storing
A wine with body and structure that benefits from a little airing before serving: if you can, decant it, or simply open it ahead of time. It's ideally served at 16°C, and its ripe tannin profile also gives it good ageing potential in the bottle.
Serve at 16°C
Food pairing
Thanks to its power and toasted, spiced notes, Galena calls for dishes with character: chargrilled red meat, roasts, game stews and mature cheeses all pair especially well with its profile.
- Red meat and roasts
- Game and hearty stews
- Mature cheeses
