The wine

Zuccardi’s Serie A (Argentina) is a homage to the best grape varieties grown in Argentina. The aim is to find the perfect terroir for each grape and draw from them their essential nature. In this case, it’s the Malbec and the Uco Valley, reflected in a fruit-forward and pure wine that’s supple and medium-bodied, with less fullness than most wines made with this variety.

What does this wine taste like?

It’s a wine brimming with fresh fruit and light. It combines to perfection a fantastic maturity, with just the right amount of rusticity and the tangible smoothness of an extraordinary Malbec. Citric and herbal freshness added to the variety’s floral and forest fruit nature. It has a smooth texture and very fine tannins, as well as a wild, spicy side, full of character and excellent freshness; this is a wine which exudes energy and light, with only 20% of it matured in used barrels.

Food pairing

As with any good Malbec, it has an idyllic partnership with roast meat, although this one is best with cuts that are not too strong in flavour.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker

They look for fresh fruit with good light for the 2020 Malbec Serie A, something very important in warmer years like this 2020. As I saw in the Bonarda from this year, there is less perfect ripeness and the wine shows a little more rusticity within the gentle profile of the grape. This is their entry-level Malbec, excellent for the price. 600,000 bottles. It was bottled in October 2020.

Winemaking

Harvesting by hand during the second week of April. Grapes destalked, pressed and cold-macerated before undergoing a classic fermentation by means of native yeasts. Maceration for 20 days with periodic pumping over (remontage) and racking (délestage). The wine was partially aged in used French oak barrels.
