Bottle size and vintage
This special, single variety, single vineyard wine is made from 100% Tempranillo Peludo grapes (hairy on the underside of the leaf), native to the Rioja Sonsierra district but nearly extinct due to low production generally. The Finca La Canoca vineyard is ideally sited for producing high quality fruit, enjoying an Atlantic climate with some continental influences and calcareous-clay soils. The vines are planted densely on trellises and treated with organic fertilizers. Only fully-ripe, healthy clusters are hand-picked at harvest, while on the sorting table a double selection procedure then ensures just the choicest berries pass through. Considerable attention is paid to pumping over during fermentation, occurring twice daily, and when undergoing maceration on the skins. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, followed by ageing for 20 months in new French Bordelaise (90%) and American (10%) oak barrels. Bottled in July 2008, the wine was allowed to rest for a year before release. This is an elegant, flavoursome wine with an excellent structure; powerful, rounded and well-balanced.

Wieder ein toller Wein!
Dicht und komplex. Anfangs ganz viel Schwarzkirsche im Bukett. Dank auch rauchige Noten. Nach einiger Zeit im Dekanter rund und schon gut trinkbar. Hohes Potenzial!by: Keith Taylor (15/08/2019) - Vintage 2015
A quality red
Always good, a great smooth flavour which more than justifies the price. Consistent quality from a great producer. I rate it highly.by: jbgb (21/02/2019) - Vintage 2015
el de siempre
Es un vino que todos los años sorprende y no defrauda. En el olfato tiene muchos matices y el paso por boca es muy agradable.by: PE Harju (19/07/2018) - Vintage 2014
Super classical Rioja wine
San Vicente is one of the landmarks of modern Rioja wines. This wine will improve minimum for the next 15 to 20 years. Super value for the money. Highly recommended!by: Jul (24/01/2018) - Vintage 2013
Un vin de grande classe, profond et élégant. Taillé pour la garde mais déjà accessible, il a tout d'un grand.
Señorío de San Vicente
The Eguren family has always shown great respect for its land and with the Señorío de San Vicente estate its aim has been to revive an almost extinct indigenous variety: the Tempranillo Peludo (literally 'Hairy', referring to the underside of the leaf). Señorío de San Vicente is, effectively, a project founded on the idea of producing a single wine, originating from a single vineyard (Finca La Canoca, an 18 ha site) and made from a single variety. The winery is located in S...
