The wine

What would it mean, if we said this is an aristocratic rosé? Its quality is obvious and its character refined, definitely a well-crafted rosé. It’s also extremely pleasant, easy to drink, the type that’s very moreish, to be honest, with its moderate alcohol content most welcome. It’s complex too. On entry, tasting it blind, it makes us think of some of those magnificent creamy whites, but also of elegant sparkling wines due to its balsamic freshness and finesse. Certain subtle saline notes and a touch of quince in the background take us directly to the world of classic Riojas —no surprise knowing its producer. All the beauty of rosé wine under a single label. Well done, José Luis!

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker

The rosé 2016 RIPA Vino Rosado was produced with the must from the bleeding of 85% Garnacha and 15% Tempranillo from the Najerilla Valley. It fermented and matured in 500-liter oak barrels for 18 months. The wine is medium-bodied, with 13% alcohol and good freshness, hence easy to drink but still complex. There are notes of strawberry and an herbal twist with a medium-bodied palate. The oak is still noticeable, and there is a sweet twist in the finish. 3,300 bottles were filled in March 2018.
