The wine
El Imperio is the second single-parcel wine from Bodega Las Calzadas, born after El Santillo and one of the project’s most personal expressions. It comes from the Las Calzadas site, where two century-old ungrafted micro-parcels are preserved, with more than 100 years of age, recovered and brought back to life by the family’s new generation.
This wine is a tribute to old vineyards and to the area’s traditional genetic diversity. It is made mainly from Bobal (50%), accompanied by Garnacha tinta (30%) and 20% of ancestral varieties present in the parcel —including Pardilla, Coloraíllo, Pintáilla, Rojal and Cojón de Gallo— which ferment together, respecting the vineyard’s original character.
What does this wine taste like?
Appearance: very intense, deep and bright cherry colour.
Nose: aromas of ripe red fruit, with a clear earthy and balsamic profile that recalls old vines and the natural surroundings.
Palate: structured and powerful wine, with good acidity that brings freshness and balance. The tannins are abundant, fine-grained and slightly earthy and dusty, adding an elegant rusticity. The finish leaves a fine, pleasant bitterness that lengthens the aftertaste and reinforces the wine’s gastronomic character.

These methods have been brought back under the Tinácula brand, which comes from Latin and means “small jar.”The vineyards, which are more than 80 years old, are organically farmed and cared for by a family team. This team is made up of José Julián Sevilla, grower...
