Details for El Coto Mayor Crianza 2017
Bottle size and vintage
This is a 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano blend from the Rioja Alavesa, and a vintage year considered very good by the DO.
Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks with lengthy macerations in order to achieve the right balance between the fruit and tannic elements, and thus obtain wine highly suitable for ageing.
It appears an intense shade of cherry-red with a garnet rim, whilst on the nose aromas abound of spiciness, ripe fruit, creamy oak and a touch of vanilla. The wine feels powerful on the palate, with plenty of flavour, and comes over as well-structured with good persistence.
Aged for 14 months in 225-litre American and French oak barrels. Subsequent repose in bottle for 13 months before release.

A lighter flavour
Subtle flavours which are lighter on the palate than El Coto enjoyable for a warm summer's eveningby: Jim (27/12/2018) - Vintage 2015
So much better than the crianza
Really good with a hint of vanilla. So smooth, great value for such a good wine. Better than the 2014by: CC (06/10/2018) - Vintage 2015
Bon petit vin
Un très petit vin pour le prix affiché, quasiment au niveau de son grand frère le Reserva de Coton Mayorby: wade gustafson (19/01/2018) - Vintage 2014
Lovely Wine - Terrific Value
Have been a fan of El Coto for many, many years. Good, light drinkable reds at the affordable end and good value at the €8.00/10.00 mark. The Coto Mayor sits between the regular Crianza and Reserva Coto Imaz - and is seriously good wine for the money, and an absolute steal when tasted against the higher priced reserva. Happily cellar it for a few years and the tannins will soften out.by: Client Vinissimus (21/02/2018) - Vintage 2014
J’ai découvert sur du 2012 qui été juste excellent, celui ci est bon mais moins que le 2012. Je retrouve cependant ce que j’aime dans cette bouteille
