The wine

Clos Petó is a Priorat wine with all the essence of tradition, but with the necessary touches of modernity to succeed in the market. It displays the elegant rusticity of the region's great wines, which seems to have disappeared in many other wines, camouflaged by excessive wood and overripe grapes. Clos Petó is an austere and fresh wine, round and agile, but also broad and complex. Despite being the winery's youngest wine, Clos Petó shares with its older siblings the typical characteristics resulting from a traditional method of winemaking. The slate slopes of Porrera, at an altitude of around 400 metres, are the key to its mineral and sober character.

The friendliness of the Grenache and the freshness of the Carignan combine perfectly with the structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon, creating a wine of pleasant complexity. Fruit in liqueur and seductive hints of balsamic and vegetal notes intermingle with the spices and toasted tones of the barrel, making Clos Petó an irresistible and sweet Priorat red wine. On the palate, it is dense and enveloping, becoming pleasant after a brief decanting. Alcohol, acidity, and tannins find a perfect balance on the palate, allowing Clos Petó to flow smoothly, but without being harsh in any way. Fruit and smoke appear after each sip, while tears slowly fall down the sides of the glass. It has enough structure and character to appeal to any lover of good Priorat wine and to continue improving in the bottle for a few years, all at an excellent price-pleasure ratio.
