The wine
To my mind, Jaume Bertran is the wine genius of the Penedés region, and after delighting us with his Tayaimgut Negre and Blanco, now he presents us with his first rosé: Tayaimgut Rosat de Llàgrima, a new and delightful wine which, as its name suggests, results from gently letting the juice run free from the Merlot grapes. The production is minimal: less than a 1000 bottles. Quite unusual!
Different from the modern style rosés that can now be found in Spain, Tayaimgut Rosé is comparable with the mythical, majestic rosés from the Côte de Provence, where every fragment of aroma and flavour is full of elegance.
To start with, the pale salmon colour and its light airiness come as a surprise, and we are immediately aware of elegance and slight maturity. Its aromas are exquisite, with an irresistible choice fragrance of all kinds of juicy melons, mingling with strawberries, roses in bloom and cherries. Eventually, when we come to taste, we encounter a rosé wine with a high measure of refinement; an excellent fresh maturity, delicate and tasty, with a mineral carbonic touch and a tea-like fluidity.
Jaume... your wines are top class!
