The wine

Enrico Marramiero's winery, in Rosciano near Pescara, founded in 1994, since the very beginning has always been motivated by dedication and foresight. The vineyards are extraordinary for their ordered layout and exposure, and benefit from integrated pest control that orients the product towards biological management. One of the finest reds, based on an idea of power and longevity, is without doubt the Inferi.

From a wonderful Montepulciano vineyard located on clayey soils exposed to the South come the Inferi grapes, which are perfectly ripe and rich in sugars and extractive substances. The long temperature controlled maceration can therefore only produce a majestic and opulent wine, the perfect expression of the best that Montepulciano can give.

The colour is full-bodied ruby, with a rich and multifaceted aroma that ranges, with absolute intensity, from the jam of small red fruits to cherry under alcohol, from cinnamon to vanilla, from tobacco to liquorice. The taste does not disappoint its majestic expectations: the tannin, which is vigorous, is the foundation for a robust body, but it is also dry and clean, helped along by good freshness and surprising flavour.

The finish, which is very long and predominantly spicy, is due to the long aging in steel (eighteen months) and a rest for another eighteen months, in barrique, followed by a six-month rest in bottle.

Cantina Marramiero

Cantina Marramiero

Marramiero is perhaps the most avant-garde winery in Abruzzo, despite being active in one of the region's most suited areas since the beginning of the 20th century. The staff's geological and agronomic expertise flows not only into a careful regime of environmental sustainability and low-impact agriculture, but also into a masterful and dynamic use of technology. Grape selection, for example, is carried out with optical infrared scanners, which impeccably...
