The wine

The Gran Reserva of the range is only made in excellent or very good vintage years, with this coupage made from 85% Tempranillo, 15% Graciano and Garnacha Tinta. The lengthy time the wine has spent ageing and maturing enhances both fruit and freshness, as well as enriching the wine with a singular complexity.

A ruby-red colour of great intensity, the wine releases a profusion of ripe woodland berry fruit aromas on the nose, complemented by vanilla and light roasted notes. There is plenty of fullness on the palate which is meaty and fresh, accompanied by fine tannins which highlight its structure and complexity. Its elegance and intense flavours contribute to making this a most pleasurable wine.

Aged for 26 months in French oak barrels. Subsequent repose in bottle for at least a further 3 years.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Jancis Robinson and Suckling

Strong coconut and vanilla aromas. Black cherry, fine tannic chew, plenty of grain in the texture. Fairly limited in terms of complexity, but the oak influence and overripe fruit is very classic.

Currant, blackberry and some plum undertones, as well as floral and burnt-orange notes. Linear and firm on the palate with a medium to full body and a polished, tannic finish. Very clean and refined texture, yet displaying strength at the same time. Drink or hold.

Marqués de Cáceres

Enrique Forner founded the company Marqués de Cáceres Unión Vitivinícola in 1970, with its name granted by an old family friend who was descended from the original 18th Century marquis. Many of the area’s best vine growers and their vineyards were incorporated into this project, and years later most still remain, meaning that this bodega controls around 1,200 hectares locally, thanks to the strong links forged back then. The Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa is the location for the...
