Review

Elegant, fragrant and with good ageing potential, Laurona is made using grapes sourced from Garnacha and Cariñena vineyards aged more than 50 years old, and small amounts of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, originating from terrains with different soil compositions which contributes complexity (from vineyards located in Falset, Marçà, El Molar, La Figuera and Darmós).

NOTE: Decanting is recommended before serving.

A violet shade of red in colour, the wine exhibits a complex and intense nose, with notes of blackcurrants, plums, blackberries and toasty dried fruits, as well as spicy hints (vanilla and cinnamon) on a floral background of violets. Opulent, velvety-smooth and persistent on the palate, it shows a balanced tannic structure.

Aged for 12 months in 500-litre French oak barrels.

Celler Laurona

Celler Laurona

Celler Laurona was the brainchild of two great experts of the region and vines, namely René Barbier, the oenologist and owner of Clos Mogador, and Fernando Zamora (the university professor), who wanted to create wines that would truly reflect tradition and terroir. They have worked for the most part with the local traditional varieties (Garnacha and Cariñena), and have succeeded in producing wines that are smooth on the palate and endowed with great structure and an aromatic ...
