Review

Catena Zapata never ceases to surprise us with its new parcel wines, with their amazing personality, and they have made Argentine wine the new 'one to watch'.

Sourcing from the renowned Adrianna Vineyard it has produced some exceptional wines, both whites and reds. Among the reds we find three great names: Fortuna Terrae, Mundus Bacillus Terrae and River Stones. They are not yet widely known, very limited in production, but really outstanding and exciting.

River Stones comes from the rockiest area and is the red version of White Stones; its grapes have been exposed to the north, which in the southern hemisphere means more warmth (in cool vintage years the results are remarkable). It’s a wine which combines powerfulness and elegance in equal measures, a refined, harmonious and precise wine, like few others. Exceptional, in capital letters.

They have been able to make the most of terroir best described as poor, yet exceptional, holding to the firm belief that these particular lands possess hidden qualities, excellent for grape-growing. The wine-making philosophy of Nicolás Catena lies in the art of blending fruit from different vineyards. Despite the ...
