The three Riojas: 6 wines from Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental

Alta, Alavesa and Oriental: 3 styles, six wines, a delicious lesson
The Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin is divided into three subzones, each with its own personality: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental. Although they share history and tradition, their wines speak differently: climate, soil and altitude vary… and so does the result in the glass.
Six wines, two from each zone, to discover how Tempranillo expresses itself in every corner, how texture, fruit and freshness shift… and how to choose according to your mood.
- Rioja Alta Atlantic climate, clay-limestone soils. Elegant, fresh wines, with good acidity and ageing potential.
- Rioja Alavesa Higher altitude, limestone soils, Atlantic influence. Fine, vibrant wines, with red fruit and polished tannins.
- Rioja Oriental Warmer climate, alluvial and clay soils. More powerful wines, with ripe fruit and generous body.
