The wine

This is a Cava made in the Conca de Barberà, a popular Catalan denomination due to its cool climate and elegant wines. When we add that Carles Andreu is one of the region’s most respected and acclaimed producers, you’ll easily understand the success of this great sparkling wine.

What does this wine taste like?

Due to its aromas from ageing and balanced acidity, the Carles Andreu Gran Reserva Brut Nature is a great performer when paired with food. It’s wonderful with fish and white meats, grilled or fried, especially if they’re served with creamy sauces, buttery or cheesy and subtly seasoned.

Winemaking

The Parellada grape, perfectly adapted to the Conca de Barberà terrain, is the star of this Cava, accompanied by the elegant and versatile Chardonnay. Each plot and variety undergo a first fermentation separately in stainless steel tanks, with no malolactic fermentation. Afterwards they are combined, ready to rest in bottle for a minimum of 36 months. After disgorging, bottling occurs without any addition of sugar.

Celler Carles Andreu

Cellers Carles Andreu started up in 1991, with Carles Andreu at the helm, who had continued the centuries-old family tradition and devoted himself to growing vines. The family presently owns around eighty hectares of vineyards in the Conca de Barberà region, distributed among the municipalities of Pira, Forès, Sarral, Solivella, Barberà de la Conca and Montblanc, where the area’s traditional varieties are mainly grown: Macabeo, Parellada and Trepat.
