"La Bota de" is a numbered series of wines from Jerez and Montilla, distinguished by their age and exceptional quality. These are wines of great complexity and finesse, matured in some of the region’s most prestigious bodegas. Run by Jesús Barquín and Eduardo Ojeda, two fervent admirers of distinctive fortified wine, Equipo Navazos carefully selects, reserves and then bottles the successive editions. Dated releases ensure that an outstanding array of the finest sherry is continually available to a growing number of appreciative consumers.
Edition number 6 of this series, Bota Punta, is an extremely old Palo Cortado. It is named after the ‘bota punta’, the seventh butt of a solera basically comprised of 6 butts, and the one producing the oldest, most intense and balanced wine. This is a fantastic Palo Cortado, and an example of Andalucian wine-growing at its best, emanating from butts of wine that Fernando Carrasco Sagastizábal matured in his old cellar. Selection and release took place in April 2007 and resulted in 300 half-bottles.
Perfect on its own or with dried fruit and cured cheeses; readily accompanies consommés, thick soups or casseroles.
