The wine

Colledilà is a cru that lies on a clayey-calcareous soil, the so-called "alberese", a geological formation among the most representative types of the denomination: very stony soil, rich in calcium carbonate and clay and poor in organic substance. Aged 18 months in 500-litre tonneaux, 30% new and 70% second-hand.

Intense ruby red in colour, Colledilà expresses an intense bouquet of violets, morello cherries and redcurrants on the nose, with hints of vanilla and undergrowth that flow into toasted tobacco and coffee. On the palate it is satisfying and solid, with energetic tannins and a fruity return of cherries in alcohol.

And it was thanks to Baron Bettino Ricasoli, an illustrious politician and wine entrepreneur of great farsightedness, that in 1872 the Chianti...
