On the label of Ramón do Casar Varietal there are no vines. There is no winery. No landscape. There are several people saying goodbye from a port. Below, a simple phrase: “Starting from scratch since 1955.”
It is a tribute to the thousands of Galicians who had to leave their homeland in search of a better future. People who crossed the ocean with little more than a suitcase and the hope of returning one day. Among them was Ramón González.
At just twenty, he emigrated to Venezuela. There he worked for decades, never forgetting Ribeiro. His dream was always the same: to return home and build a winery where the wine would speak of the land he had left behind. Years later, that dream took shape under the name Ramón do Casar.
Its Varietal, made from Treixadura, Godello and Albariño, reflects that same idea of returning to the origin. It is an elegant, fresh and precise white wine, where each variety contributes a part of Ribeiro’s landscape and nothing seeks to stand out above the whole.
