Review

Marotti Campi is a winery which offers reliable indigenous wines that have personality and an unbeatable price / quality ratio. Starting up in the mid-19th Century as a farm mainly dedicated to growing wheat, over the years the estate found a vocation in wine production and for more than 20 years its winery has been expressing this terroir's potential through authentic and original wines, made from the grape varieties Verdicchio and Lacrima.

The Lacrima di Morro d'Alba is a semi-aromatic variety which gives rise to some easily recognisable wines, with intense aromas of roses, violets and lavender. Orgiolo has even more to offer. It's a superior category wine, aged for 12 months in small, second and third year French oak barrels and afterwards undergoes a period of rest and refinement for a further 6 months. This oak ageing softens the rather overwhelming floral aromas and complements them with delightful spicy notes of pepper, cloves and cinnamon, on a particularly pleasant balsamic background. This is precisely where a large part of Orgiolo's seductive charm lies, in the way in which it manages to soften and at the same time enhance the exuberance of the Lacrima's floral notes with a lovely spicy sweetness.

On the palate it's firm, fleshy and elegant. After a smooth entry, well-defined tannins are immediately present and provide perfect balance in every mouthful.

unique and exotic

this was one outstanding experience. rarely have we tasted such a cakeish dry wine. it's like a swimming pool of violas, first in the nose and, with a bit of time in the decanter,on the palate, in the aftertaste, everywhere. it's like you could use a spoon to taste it. just beautiful or as close to a delicious wine as one could be.
