Details for La Parde Haut-Bailly 2017
Bottle size and vintage
Haut-Bailly was one of the first estates to create a second wine, Domaine de la Parde, in 1967. The name was changed to La Parde de Haut-Bailly in 1979 and simply La Parde Haut-Bailly in 2011. It has earned a fine reputation over the years and become a model for second wines. La 'Parde' is the name of an ancient Bordeaux grape variety.
Produced from the same plots as Château Haut-Bailly and made in excatly the same way, La Parde Haut-Bailly has its own particular charming and elegant style. It starts out quite velvety on the plate, going on to reveal a smooth, silky texture and attractive, upfront flavours without any heaviness. The wine's freshness and openness mean that it is enjoyable even quite young, although it can also age for at least fifteen years.
- Optimum serving temperature:Between 16ºC and 18ºC
Château Haut-Bailly is a reference point among Bordeaux wines. This Grand Cru Classé de Graves is located to the east of the town of Léognan, very near to Château Carbonnieux. The vineyard came into being in 1630, thanks to a Parisian banker, Firmin Le Bailly, but it was Alcide Bellot des Minières who brought about its prestige in 1872. Its second renaissance dates back to 1955, when it was bought by a Belgian businessman and experienced 15 vintages of extraordinary wines....
