Review

La Guinardera is the product of just 2 hectares of the estate bearing the same name, situated in Gratallops, Priorat. It is produced from 100% Garnacha grapes, the variety most readily identified with the Priorat and perfect for imparting the llicorella slate terroir.

La Guinardera has a truly amazing nose: coming over quite definitely in the foreground are wonderful wafts of peaches and dried apricots, which typically occur in botrytized white wines, followed by notes of violet, thyme and liquorice. Such an aromatic concoction, on a blind tasting, could throw us into complete confusion, deceiving us into thinking that this was a white wine. It simply brims with acidity and minerality on the palate: if we close our eyes, the sensations we feel are the same as when tasting a late harvest Tokaji Furmint.

A remarkable Garnacha: La Guinardera.

Excellent

Second bottle of La Guinardera, and this one was even better than the other. Rich and powerful, but despite its high alcohol level (16%) it never comes across as hot or jammy. The tannic backbone is splendid, and it has just the right level of acidity. It will improve further with bottle age, but is utterly delicious now as well.

du velours !

Un nez très expresif avec des notes de fruits compotés, cacaotés, pruneaux ....et en bouche tout est dans la rondeur et la puissance ,belle longueur. Nous l'avons choisi pour le mariage d'une de nos filles.

Wine from Celler Balaguer i Cabré

Celler Balaguer i Cabré combines the wine-making tradition of two families which have been involved in vine cultivation and wine production in the Priorat region over the lifetimes of more than three generations. The bodega is located nowadays in the oldest part of Gratallops, in a restored building which boasts a wine-making room, an ageing room (the former cellar of this renovated old house) and a tasting room with magnificent views looking out towards the vineyards and...
