Review

Alter Alea is a white wine elaborated with whole cluster pressing and spontaneous fermentation with only indigenous yeasts in small concrete barrels, without the use of chemical additives and oenological adjuvants, with the exception of a modest amount of sulphites in the bottling phase. Refine for six months in steel and for two months in bottle. Alter Alea is of a beautiful light straw color. The nose expresses notes of acacia and resin, with a pungency of hawthorn. Fresh, delicate and subtle, it is agile and dynamic in the mouth.

    Andrea Occhipinti

Lake Bolsena, in the top part of Lazio north of Rome, is one of the most interesting and less known volcanic terroirs in Italy. The combination of lake and volcano, which is that magic ingredient in the wine districts of Umbria, here is still to be discovered. Andrea Occhipinti is on it, a refined and curious winegrower who has made the most of the main grape variety of the area: l'Aleatico. Vinifications and ageing are conducted in steel, cement and amphora, while in the ...
