Marqués de Griñón

Carlos Falcó, the Marquess of Griñon (Marqués de Griñón), is undoubtedly one of the people who has brought the most innovations and care to winemaking in Spain in the last twenty years. One of the first to plant foreign varieties like the Cabernet Sauvignon, he was also a pioneer in introducing Syrah and Petit Verdot into Spain.

His vineyards are divided into two estates, Dominio de Valdepusa and El Rincón, where vine-growing is carried out with the utmost respect for sustainability and the natural environment while also taking on board innovation and the use of advanced modern technology. A blend of tradition and progress with wonderful vineyards using technology for a careful control of matters such as water. The excellence of the terroir led to the Dominio de Valdepusa estate being recognized in 2002 as a DO appellation itself, placing it alongside other mythical estates in Burgundy and Tuscany.

Carlos Falcó faithfully follows the theories of Richard Smart and Claude Bourguignon in his excellent winemaking work, and he also receives advice and guidance from the oenologist Michel Rolland.
