Review

The Bodegas Elías Mora winery describes its Viñas Elías Mora as a young and fruity red wine with a hint of wood, making it an informal wine, easy for drinking at any time or to pair with cheese, cold meats or even stews. Having said that, although we agree with this description, in our opinion the truth is that this wine is all that — and much more.

It is indeed a young wine and probably best appreciated in its first years but it is also a wine that clearly stands out among most DO Toro wines. It is brimming with fruit, but tastes more of red fruit than the black fruit more usually noticed in Toro wines. Colourful in the bottle, its purple glints give away its youthfulness. It swirls around the glass easily and is an honest, direct wine on drinking with its 6 months ageing in American oak only noticeable in tantalizing vanilla touches. Its aromatic sharpness and nimbleness on the palate stand out, as well as an omnipresent sensation of a lively wine bursting with energy, thanks to a delicate underlying acidity.

Viñas Elías Mora is a precise wine, fresh and elegant, slightly astringent, but with well-polished tannins. A wine proud to be a Toro wine, yet also a fresh and fruity drink. Its carefree character make it a great wine to be drunk chilled (14º) alongside simple dishes, or a couple of degrees warmer accompanying richer meals of stews or game. Viñas Elías Mora is undoubtedly a splendid example of the new direction DO Toro wines are taking.

Excelente RCP

Vino potente pero de paso agil y agradable que se bebe muy facil sin que por ello carezca de complejidad. Contiene una fruta de calidad que se percibe muy nitida y una madera bien integrada de la que destacan los tostados dulces.
