The wine
A wine aristocracy, sacred, mythical ... And praise epithets of grandeur and have never missed this "exceptional" wine, one of the most sought after in the world and not only distinguished among others in the area of Pomerol but also among the noblest burgundy. Unctuous, intense, with great balance and a deep and marked aroma.
What does this wine taste like?
In the glass, the wine displays an intense purple-red colour. On the nose, ripe cherries, redcurrants and cranberries stand out. These are complemented by spices, liquorice and hints of truffle. On the palate, the 2021 Petrus is medium-bodied. The tannins are soft and well-integrated. The wine is balanced and fresh, with a long finish.

Drinking and storing
Petrus takes time. The 2021 vintage will begin to open up from around 2030 and has an ageing potential of several decades. Store the bottle horizontally, in a dark place and at a constant temperature.
Serve at 16 to 18 °C. We recommend decanting the wine some time before serving.
Food pairing
Petrus pairs perfectly with select meat dishes, such as rack of lamb, beef fillet or game birds. Its truffle notes go particularly well with truffle-based dishes. To round off a meal, you can serve it with a mature hard cheese. Choose dishes that complement the wine without masking its delicate aromas.

Winemaking
The vines are between 45 and 70 years old and produce low yields. The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and sorted twice. Each plot is fermented separately in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, with the tannins extracted gently.
Malolactic fermentation also takes place in the tanks to ensure the fruit remains the dominant feature. The wine is then aged in French oak barriques. For the 2021 vintage, the winery has used less new oak and shortened the barrel ageing period to preserve the vintage’s elegance.
