Review

Château Reynon is located in the village of Béguey, near Cadillac, on a south-facing hillside on the right bank of the Garonne. It dates back to the fifteenth century when it was known as Château de Béguey.

In 1976, Denis Dubourdieu and his wife Florence took over the winery and the prestige and popularity of their wines has just grown and grown, especially their dry Sauvignon Blanc. One of the most renowned oenologists and great winemakers of Bordeaux, Dubourdieu also owned Château Doisy Daëne, Château Reynon and Clos Floridène and was a wine consultant for Château d'Yquem, Château Cheval Blanc and Bodegas Chivite among others. When he passed away in the summer of 2016, he left behind an unbelievable legacy of splendidly aromatic wines which focus on complexity before strength.

The Château Reynon 2019 is a perfect example. A white wine whose varietal profile lets the essence of Sauvignon Blanc flow freely in an excellent blend of fruity aromas and a hint of green tropical tones balanced with tense fresh touches reminiscent of lime and an elegant herbal character. Wild asparagus, grapefruit and a fine sensation of dust wrap themselves around an agile and lively mouth brimming with energy. Five months standing in large stainless steel tanks and wooden vats allow the fruit to shine brightly with just the faintest hint of spices or toasted wood appearing in the background alongside the subtle creaminess of fine lees. Verbena and chalky minerals aromatize its finish in the mouth, which lingers on and on with an aftertaste of fruit and amazingly fresh sensations delighting the mouth for minutes.

elegante e discreto
