The wine

B de Basilio is sourced from selected vineyards in the most highly-regarded areas of Rioja. It results from a coupage of the classic varieties: almost two thirds Tempranillo, one third Garnacha Tinta and nearly 5% Graciano.

The grapes, harvested by hand and placed in crates holding 15 kilos, are from some of the estate's best grapevines and only the healthiest bunches are picked, completely excluding any rotten grapes.

Fermentation lasts for twelve to fifteen days, with tastings, pump-overs by hand and sufficient délestages to obtain a quality extraction. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously in French barrels, after drawing off. The wine then undergoes a succession of rackings, determined by the dictates of palate.

Bottling takes place without any clarification beforehand, when the wine, after two winters, shows the requisite nobility of tannins and reveals the most successful integration between fruit and wood.

The wine is deeply coloured, bright and constant. It has a complex nose that is floral and rich in aromas, with the oak clean, obviously present but discreet. It presents a magnificent passage through the mouth, lengthy, balanced, full, smooth, and with a memorable finish - a true reflection of the quality of the grapes and the work that has gone into the wine.

Malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged in French oak barrels.
