Following on from the long-lasting family tradition of winemaking at the Bodegas José Pariente winery, the siblings Martina and Ignacio Prieto Pariente from the third generation of the family have developed the project Prieto Pariente in the region of Castile and León. Ignacio runs the business side of the firm while Martina is in charge of winemaking. Their principal focus has been to search out and select some of the oldest vineyards in Valladolid, the lands of the Meseta Norte plateau, and the mineral-rich hillsides of Cebreros and Bierzo. They have leased twelve different low-yield old vineyards here, mainly planted with Tempranillo, but also including Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier.
The grapes from each plot are vinified separately and the winery can develop the best coupage or blend for each of its wines, to create a unique personality for each one. Intervention during the winemaking process is kept to a minimum, and lengthy maceration processes intensify the character of the wine and imprint it with the essence of its terroir. A fresh, pleasant and smooth wine, with an Atlantic style; elegant and with little extraction.
