Hacienda Monasterio is a benchmark winery in the Ribera del Duero. If possessing the great Peter Sisseck (Dominio de Pingus) among its team of winemakers doesn't prove enough of an introduction, its wines receive praise year after year from Robert Parker's panel and a member of which has gone so far as to say that its entry wine is one of the Ribera del Duero's best wines.
It shouldn't come as any surprise. Hacienda Monasterio amalgamates many merits to produce wines of the highest quality: vineyards situated on the privileged Golden Mile, between Pesquera and Valbuena de Duero, with vines planted on slopes, thus ensuring perfect natural drainage; the strategic orientation to the south that enables the best possible ripening of the grapes; and soils with a high concentration of limestone, which confer a special finesse on the wines.
Moreover, the Hacienda Monasterio wines exhibit their own particular complexity and elegance, probably due to the inclusion in their composition of a significant amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and occasionally small additions of Merlot and Malbec. These varieties, in addition to the principal one, Tinto Fino (a clone of the Tempranillo variety), are grown by means of organic viticulture. Resulting from this special commitment to the natural environment and countryside, its wines are able to reflect the complete identity of a terroir that boasts highly desirable characteristics.
