This winery was founded in 1999 in a small warehouse in Vilafranca del Penedès. Laurent Corrió, a biochemist and oenologist by profession, runs the company with his wife Irene Almeny. After Laurent and Irene had gained a considerable amount of production experience in Burgundy, Irene's father encouraged them to take up making wine in the Penedès region.
They have vineyards in Lavern, planted on a gentle slope with a 5 to 15% gradient. The varieties grown are Merlot (24 years old, 4 ha), 26 year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines (4 ha) and 70 year-old Cariñena (0.75 ha). Their vineyard management involves strict measures restricting production, thus achieving a higher phenolic concentration in the berries. Apart from that, they have carried out significant geological studies on each of the parcels, in order to get a better understanding of the land, its potential and the vine's ability to adapt.
The winery is located in the centre of Vilafranca del Penedès where, in the purest 'garage wine' style, they vinify by variety and batch, in stainless steel tanks holding differing amounts - 2,200, 3,800, 5,200, 500 and 300 litres. Total production numbers around 10,000 bottles.
