Single-variety Monastrell wines are hard to find in Catalonia. If we add to their rarity, the fact that this wine is aged in clay amphoras buried underground in the vineyards themselves, it is safe to say that Sicus Sons Monastrell is a unique and exceptional wine. Its Catalan name 'sons' refers to sounds; that is the vibrations and pulse of a living landscape.

Wird man von einem Wein schon vor der ersten Begegnung in seinen Bann gezogen, ist das eher ungewöhnlich. Doch genau dies geschieht mit den „Sicus-Sons-Amphorenweinen“ von Eduard Pié. Natürlich kennt man die eingängigen Fotos des jungen Winzers, wie er mitten im Weinberg auf „trockenem Boden“ (“Sicus“) über der Öffnung einer seiner eingebuddelten Amphoren kauert und über seine Weinwelt philosophiert. Und man kennt natürlich diese seine Philosophie (idealerweise von ihm selbst), und auch den tollkühnen „Schöpfungsvorgang“ seiner „Sons-Weine“ (über den inzwischen sogar der Mainstream berichtet!). Doch unabhängig davon: Keinem dürfte bei vernünftigen Sinnen, so oder so, das Außergewöhnliche dieser extrem raren Sons-Weine verborgen bleiben. Vorbereitet oder nicht, der „Sons Monastrell 2014“ (regional auch Garrut) trifft einen mit voller, ungebremster Wucht. Allein die Farbe: opake Schwarzkirsche; die Nase: vielfältigste Eindrücke von Pflaume bis Lavendel, von Kirschen, Gewürzen und Erde; im Mund: eine unfassbare Fruchtkompilation, komplex, rund, füllig, gleichzeitig wild und herausfordernd. Einzigartig.
