Every year, the Peñín Guide tastes and scores thousands of Spanish wines, and its 2026 edition is no exception: the tasting team has carried out more than 9,800 assessments.
Spanish wine continues to evolve with a steady step, and this edition shows once again that the podium no longer belongs only to the best-known appellations: wineries from all over the country are competing for the highest scores.
Among the appellations with the highest average scores in this edition, Jerez-Manzanilla Sanlúcar (93.16 points on average), Montilla-Moriles (92.11) and Vino de Calidad de Cebreros (92.06) stand out. In total, 441 wines scored between 95 and 100 points.

This year, the top score of 100 points went to just eight wines. At Vinissimus you'll find three of them:
Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2012 (Marqués de Murrieta, Rioja): finesse and complexity, with the power and ageing potential typical of the region.
