Italian sweet wine
Italy offers a wide variety of sweet wines, both reds and whites, slightly sparkling (frizzante) and sparkling (spumante). It’s renowned for its Passito wines, found the length and breadth of the country, with the individual characteristics of each area: from the Passitos di Pantelleria in Sicily, to the intense Reciotos in Valpolicella, or the traditional Vin Santo from Tuscany and other regions. In Piedmont, it’s hard to resist the Moscatos d’Asti, slightly sparkling wines with a gentle fizz and refined sweetness, or the bubbly Asti Spumantes; two sweet wines from white grapes, providing a contrast with the region’s equally attractive sweet reds, are the seductive Brachettos and the luscious Barolo Chinato aromatised sweet wines, both reds but very different, plus the Sangue di Giuda from neighbouring Lombardy. Lambrusco lovers also have a sweet version in the Emilia-Romagna, the sweet Lambruscos. That’s not forgetting the semi-sweet Late Harvest wines, as well as examples of Ice wine and Noble Rot wine in the north of the country and the sweet Primitivos in the south. Here at Vinissimus you’ll find the best selection of all these absolute delights to enjoy sipping, admirably paired with desserts or on their own for pure pleasure.
