Viña Almaviva
On the outskirts of Santiago, in the Maipo Valley, lies one of Chile's most fascinating wine stories: Viña Almaviva. It is a joint project between French icon Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Chilean wine leader Concha y Toro, born in 1997 with one clear idea: to create a wine that would be the soul of Chile, but with the classic elegance of Bordeaux.
Here, everything is focused on quality – from the vineyards in Puente Alto, where the grapes are ripened by the winds of the Andes and large temperature differences, to the careful hand-picking and ageing in French oak barrels.
Viña Almaviva does not produce a mass product – it is a winery that works like a watchmaker: slowly, meticulously, and with love. Each harvest is like a separate work of art, revealing a rich flavour, silky tannins, and a long finish. This is a wine that does not try to please, but speaks directly about the land, the time and the people who create it.
